Service Description

Shirodhara Oil Therapy is a balancing and stabilizing 45 minute crown treatment, including medicated oil applied to the forehead region of the head. Shirodhara purifies the mind, alleviates anxiety, reduces headaches, and expands awareness, because it treats the Ajna area between the eyebrows, the main thoroughfare of the body's nadis, or major channels of neurology and subtle, vital energy called "Prana". Shirodhara is a purifying and rejuvenating therapy designed to eliminate toxins and mental exhaustion as well as relieve stress and its effects. This therapy enhances the function of the central nervous system in whole. Shirodhara (Shiro-Head; Dhara- Flow) is a unique form of ancient therapy where pouring oil on the forehead from a specific height for a specific period continuously and rhythmically allowing the oil to run through the scalp and into the hair. Proper elimination, or detoxification of body and mind, is the emphasis of the Panch Karma Ayurveda Therapies offered at Indian Yoga Alliance. Abhyanga and Shirodhara are given with therapeutic oil, chosen to complement your body constitution and balance the body according to the Tattvas (elements).
