COVID-19 Policies and Procedures

Namaste!  We thank you for taking the time to familiarize yourself with our increased safety measures

Our Students + Clients -

  • Must make a reservation for all classes and therapies, on our site, by email, or by phone.  We limit 3 students per class to allow for social distancing + extra space, so reserve your spot ahead!

  • Must wear a mask at all times in the studio, except for while eating or drinking, provided that they are over age 2 and able to medically tolerate such covering.  We have masks for anyone who needs one!

  • Will answer a brief COVID questionnaire at check-in.

  • Are encouraged to bring own mat, blanket or pillow, and any other props desired (blocks/straps, etc.) from home.

  • Are welcome to borrow materials as needed, and leave in your space.  We will clean and disinfect after class.

  • Are encouraged to practice hand hygiene before and after sessions.

  • Are encouraged to please look into the options for online classes, taught individually for unprecedented support, at the same rate as in-studio classes.

Our yoga school is here to serve our community, pursue healing and extend the reach of each of our students in their own self-knowledge to steadily progress in the journey of spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing!  Your Wellness is our Mantra, now and always.

Should you have any additional questions or input, please do not hesitate to contact Manager and Safety Monitor Laura Dogra at (518) 727-0558 or via email at support@indiayogaalliance.com

Our Cleaning + Disinfection -

Cleansing is the starting place for every yogic wellness practice

All surfaces at Indian Yoga Alliance are regularly washed and then disinfected with CDC-recommended products.  Surfaces in common areas and high-touch surfaces are disinfected regularly, as well as before and after every class.  Any borrowed mats or other materials are left in the place by the student, and then cleaned and disinfected by a gloved + masked staff member.

We adhere to hygiene, cleaning, and disinfection requirements from the CDC and Department of Health (DOH) and maintain logs on site that document date, time, and scope of cleaning and disinfection.

We provide and maintain hand hygiene stations throughout the studio, including handwashing with soap, running warm water, and disposable paper towels as well as an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing 70% alcohol for areas where handwashing is not feasible, and in common areas.

Our Air Circulation + HVAC Filtration -

According to Yoga, quality breath is the #1 element of health and wellbeing

Per NYS guidelines, a MERV 13 Filter has been installed and certified by HVAC technician.  Studio air is circulated by high-powered Vornado fan before and after all classes.  Windows in the studio are kept open for improved air circulation between sessions.  We have adopted these additional ventilation and air filtration mitigation protocols per CDC and ASHRAE recommendations.

We have chosen therapeutic-grade plant essential oils to diffuse in the reception area, which are anti-viral, anti-microbial, and anti-fungal.

Our Protective Equipment (PPE) -

The Sanskrit mantra "Paratmo atma raksha" means "First, one must care for their own soul"

All teachers, staff, students and guests, are required to wear masks and maintain social distancing.  Indian Yoga Alliance staff is required to change their mask between classes, or if it should become soiled or wet.

Acceptable face coverings include, but are not limited to, cloth-based face coverings and disposable masks appropriate for exercise that cover both the mouth and nose. Bandanas, buffs, and gaiters are not acceptable face coverings for use in gyms and fitness centers.

All teaching staff will only give hands-on assists with permission and will limit touching any equipment.  All employees are required to wear gloves when in contact with shared objects or frequently touched surfaces.  All employees to sanitize or wash their hands before and after contact with any shared objects or frequently touched surfaces.

Our Communication -

All of Yoga is essentially a preparation for quality communication in energetic pathways

Indian Yoga Alliance affirms that we have reviewed, understood, and implemented the state- issued industry guidelines.  We have signage posted inside and outside of the studio to remind employees and patrons to adhere to proper hygiene, social distancing rules, appropriate use of PPE, and cleaning and disinfection protocols.

Our studio keeps constantly updated logs of all visitors' contact information, for any possible need of contract-tracing communication.
